City announces Presidents Day holiday closures; service alterations

City offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 16, in observance of Presidents Day.

SOLID WASTE: There is no delay in collection for the Presidents Day holiday. All solid waste collection will happen according to your regular collection schedule.

PARKING: Parking meters, lots and garages downtown will be free on Monday, Feb. 16.

TRANSIT: Lawrence Transit will be operating regular fixed-route, T Lift, and On Demand service on Monday, Feb. 16. Central Station will be closed for the holiday.

PARKS AND RECREATION: Eagle Bend Golf Course will be open on Monday, Feb. 16, from 8 a.m. to dusk (weather permitting).All other Parks, Recreation and Culture facilities will be closed on Monday, Feb. 16, for the holiday, including the administrative office and cemeteries office in South Park, Indoor Aquatic Center, Prairie Park Nature Center, Community Building, East Lawrence Recreation Center, Holcom Park Recreation Center, and Sports Pavilion Lawrence.

Please note: It is new this year that all recreation, aquatic, and administrative facilities will close on holidays where City facilities are closed. A list of facility hours is on our website: lawrenceks.gov/prc.
