Electronics Recycling Event 2026
Get ready, Lawrence! Our next Electronics Recycling Event is on Saturday, August 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds! Our partner Teknix Solutions is back again to help our community recycle our electronic waste efficiently and sustainably.

- When: Saturday, August 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Where: Douglas County Fairgrounds – 2120 Harper Street, Lawrence, KS
- Who: All Douglas County residents.
Accepted Materials –
- Anything that uses electricity or has a cord, including, but not limited to:
- computers*, laptops, monitors**, speakers, keyboards, mice, servers,
- printers, microwaves, TVs**, gaming systems,
- light fixtures (not bulbs! see list below), non-PCB ballasts,
- stereos, radios, phones*, audio / visual equipment,
- lab equipment, cables, battery backup systems,
- other small appliances
*Teknix Solutions, a leader in safe electronic disposal, will ensure that all items are processed securely, protecting both your data and the environment. Teknix’s certified equipment handlers ensure that any electronics they receive are securely destroyed on site or wiped clean using NIST 800-88 standards. Teknix’s goal is to keep as much e-waste out of landfills as possible in a safe and secure manner.
- **CRT TVs, CRT monitors, and projection TVs will be accepted for a fee: $40/each for all sizes of CRT TVs, CRT Monitors, and Projection TVs.
- **LCD TVs and Monitors will be accepted for a fee: $10/each for all sizes.

This year, Teknix can accept payments of cash, paypal, or venmo. Teknix does not accept credit/debit cards.
Not-Accepted Materials –
- VHS Tapes, CDs, DVDs
- Vapes, vape pens, e-cigarettes
- Fire alarms, smoke detectors, thermometers
- All light bulbs, PCB ballasts
- Chemicals of any kind (Lawrence residents may make an appointment to take these items to Household Hazardous Waste)
- Household batteries (Lawrence residents may make an appointment to take these items to Household Hazardous Waste)
- Tires, furniture
- Large appliances (Dishwashers, Dryers)
- Devices containing Freon, such as refrigerators
